Solid Foundation Workshop: The Ultimate Crash Course on Life
Updated: Jan 29, 2020
Have you ever felt like you are constantly struggling to keep your head above water? That there was no hope for tomorrow, because your circumstances left you floating out to sea?
You are not alone.
I know that's where I was not too long ago.
My name is Jeff, and here's a small glimpse of my life over the last year.
I had just lost my first love to suicide, was buried in debt from years of over spending, and I had no idea how to pull myself out. Being 21 years old, out on my own since I was 18, I always thought I had a pretty good grasp on life. It wasn't until I was thrown into the deep end, facing drug abuse and getting fired from job after job, that I realized I had absolutely no idea how to swim.
That's when I was introduced to College of Hope, offering classes in all the areas of life that nobody had ever taught me about before. Budgeting, Conflict Resolution, Cooking on a Budget, the list goes on. I was ecstatic to find out I didn't have to keep constantly kicking as hard as I could, treading water, just to barely survive each day.
I came across a class titled "Solid Foundation Workshop" one day and decided to check it out. It's deemed their most intense class, being 2 weeks long, 4 hours a day, Monday through Friday. Let me tell you, that class was a godsend. Not only did it teach me practical skills like how to build a solid resume and understand a credit report, the instructors also dug deep into how to recognize your strengths, handle stress in a healthy way, and build self-confidence.
I didn't expect to be so changed by a two-week course, but here I am. Instead of consistently living in fear of tomorrow, I'm able to better plan for my future. No longer am I stuck in the habits of my past. Today I have a job that I love, that fits my strengths much better than any job has before. I also have the freedom to travel like I've always wanted to, standing more self-reliant than ever and ready to take on the world.
My little brother committed suicide a month ago, but with the skills that I learned in this class, I have been able to manage the pain from this loss much better than I ever would've been able to before.
I recommend the Solid Foundation Workshop to anyone out there who's tired of struggling to make ends meet, exhausted from the daily question of "Where do I go next?", or lost in a sea of hopelessness. This class is for you.
It's an amazing course that doesn't get the recognition it deserves.
